Seasons is themed around the four different times of year. The earth goes around the sun and stuff then yeah season. Once every ten spins, the season will alter and some of the visual elements will change, in the game.
Developer
Seasons is developed by Yggdrasil Gaming. They are a developer based in the Malta with a major part of their company run in Poland. Like many a slot developer before it this slot was spawned by an employee of one of the bigger forerunners.
Former Net Entertainment CEO Fredrik Elmqvist. This all happened in 2013 and since then they have been putting out regular titles. On the back of quality games, they have built a reputation as an innovative company and we really like their games.
Our favourite among them are Incinerator, Magic Mushrooms, Golden Fish Tank and Draglings. They are all games with the unique gameplay and visual excellence the company is known for.
Design
This is a very tidy slot, which just looks great. The theme is well integrated into the game’s design. For all of the seasons, which change once every ten spins, there is a tasteful background image. It gives an illusion of depth, by blurring the distance.
The layout of the background image remains the same. There are trees on either side of the reels and a clearing behind, with rolling hills. As the season change the environment is influenced by the elements, with the help of some clever animations.
The reels are transparent, which helps with the theme. The reels are bordered by a vine type thing. The high value symbols are random excerpts from nature, and the low value ones are card suites that look like leaves. There is a panel under the reels, which neatly houses all of the game’s controls. It has a wooden texture to it. This panel looks identical to a Net Entertainment slot.
How to Play
There are 20 paylines in Seasons. It plays from left to right, meaning that the first symbol in a win needs to be in the furthermost reel to the left.
All payline wins are added together to get the total value of a win. Only the highest paying win is played out, and to check the value of a win you need to look at the Paytable. All winning combinations have at least three matching symbol in them. Count the number of symbols in you win go to the Paytable and see the value listed.
The Paytable is brought up with the Info Button, found in the menu down the bottom right of the screen. The reels are spun with the spin button, and you need to bet on the spin before spinning the reels, to have it take effect. It is all conventional simple gameplay.
Special Features
Seasons’ special features are based around the theme. They work via the wild symbol in the game, but each season has a different wild and a different feature when it lands.
Winter: The hair wild will jump over to adjacent reel and substitute that symbol.
Spring: The owl wild will give you a free respin during which the wild will expand either vertically or horizontally. If the owl expands of the screen, it is gone for good. But this feature will continue as long as there is an owl wild on the reels.
Summer: A deer will expand in a cross pattern, when it lands. This make four new wilds and hopefully some wins. There is a nifty animation of the deer kicking out the wilds.
Autumn: A fox wild act as a multiplier, which increases depending on how many are in the payline. There is a potential 7x – 10x multiplication available when you land 5 wilds, and the lowest multiplier is 2x – 5x for a single wild.
There is a free spins feature trigger when you land three scatter symbols, anywhere on the reels. The symbols is the golden leaf arrangement. Wilds are more common in the free spins game, but the gameplay is otherwise identical to that found in the base game. The wilds keep their feature in the free spins games, and the seasons are unaffected.
Maximum Payout
The highest five in a row win pays $5000, at max bet. But there is a rumoured $60,000 up for grabs. We are not 100% sure, how it is won, but there is a potential 10x multiplier, among other lucrative features.
Summary
Seasons is a well designed games. It is themed around the four seasons and brings this to life with animations. We think that Yggdrasill have made a nice game. There are some interesting features tied into the games theme, and some decent winning tuck away.
