Wild Seas might be a pirate themed pokie, but it’s definitely not a standard one, not when it comes to features and not where the design is involved.
First of all, in this ELK Studios pokie you’re going to have a female pirate in the main role, the location of the action being the Caribbean region, where this sort of activity was quite normal a couple of centuries ago. The story seems to revolve around this female pirate that’s facing captains from three different nations, meaning from Portugal, France and United Kingdom.
The battle between them is visible on the reels and in the features. If you go beyond the reels, the image behind them is of the Caribbean region, with Skull island on one side and the civilized cities on the other.
Looking at the symbols, which were very well designed by the way, there is the image of the Pirate Captain there, along with the three merchant ship captains and several coins (copper, silver and gold).
A company that has been around since 2012, ELK Studios offers only about 16 titles as of right now, which makes them one of the smaller developers around. They’re compensating for that with the quality of their games though.
Not only are they better designed on average than many other competitors, they’re also using features that are more interesting. Poltava, Wild Seas, Bloopers or Wild Toro are a couple of games from ELK that I’ve played and enjoyed over the years.
How To Play It
In pretty much all games from ELK that you’re going to play, the betting system will always be the same one. In this case, you have a lot of pay lines, yet the bet values that you choose from are standard ones, from $0.20 to $100. All these bets, no matter what their values is, will have 100 coins in them.
This game has 5 reels and 178 pay lines inside. The betting strategies that are offered will allow you to adopt different values, depending on the outcome of the session so far. It’s a feature that is unique to ELK Studios, and I suggest you check it out.
The Wild Seas Flag will be a substitute, but at the same time it’s also going to be used to trigger a bonus feature. Having two of these symbols in place will get you into the bonus feature, in the level called Break the Convoy. For the duration of the free spins that come next, one of the Captains will replace the other two, so there are more winning combinations of high value formed.
A convoy of wild ships will appear on reel 5 and will start moving to the left. You will have a Pirate Ship on your side, firing with its cannons at the convoy ships. To reach the second level, Loot the Treasures, you need to sink at least one of those ships. To sink a ship, you need three hits scored on it. It will be replaced with a Sticky Wild chest then.
As for level 2, Loot the Treasures, there you will find that you’re shooting at closed chests that are on the same row as the ship. Chest symbols are turned into wilds, which become sticky when hit. The bonus game ends if you hit a barrel, making it explode.
You win 1,000 coins at most from a single combo, which means $1,000 cash. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to win and features to make it quite profitable.
Wild Seas is going to be exciting mainly because it has certain features and high-end graphics to offer, not because of its jackpots.
