Emoji Planet is NetEnt’s attempt at a slot machine with a theme that feels much more relevant to our present day than most games that they usually put out.
The emoji is a popular way of expressing emotions, desires and actions, among other things, and they’ve been increasingly used by people that are getting access to the Internet and then learn about them. The graphics aren’t quite as good as in other slots that NetEnt has created in the past, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t spend a lot of time working on this game.
The symbols are mostly emoji characters and objects, so you got an emoticon with a laughing face, another one with an alien, plus rockets, bombs, pizza slices, red lips, hearts and other similar icons.
A top 3 developer among the ones that focus just on the online side of the industry, NetEnt has worked hard at creating their portfolio of slot machines, and right now I’d say that they’re among the best creators of content.
I’m much more excited with their games than I am with Emoji Planet, but even here you get something special, meaning that the features and gameplay are unusual and fun, while the graphics are a let down.
How To Play It
A wager that you set up for Emoji Planet will have to cover 20 active lines, though that’s not what you’re actually getting on the reels.
You can decide on the level of a bet, and that way you pick the number of coins that are used per line as well. You can have at most 10 coins in a line’s wager, with denominations getting up to $1. Your complete betting range will start at $0.20 and can go up to $200.
The way to form a combination in Emoji Planet is not exactly typical for a slot machine, but I’ve seen it in a couple of other games, some from NetEnt. The combinations are formed on a 6×5 reels screen, with 30 symbols on it at all times.
To get paid, you need 5 or more symbols of the same type, which are next to each other, touching either horizontally or vertically.
You can get up to 30 matching symbols in a combo, which is the way to trigger the biggest payouts. Winning symbols are removed, so new ones can come in and form new wins for you during the same paid round.
The only basic feature that you get is the one from the Wild symbol. It’s a simple replacement symbol, which you can use together with matching regular symbols, to form a cluster.
The 5 Emoji Features are a bit more special than that. You have them on the right side of the screen, and you trigger them once you got their meters filled with wins of 12 symbols. You can get multiple wins with the same symbol during a round, thanks to the disappearing winning symbols, so you don’t need a combo of 12 to get the feature.
The features are associated with the emoji with Bombs, Pizza, Kiss Marks, Rockets and Two Hearts. They come with multipliers, extra wilds or other types of bonuses.
A rather impressive 10,000x reward is offered if you get a full screen filled with Laughing Emoji symbols. It can translate into a payout of $100,000.
It might not be as pretty as other NetEnt slot machines, but when it comes to features and top payouts I think that it does very well.
